Culinary Instructor:
AVTEC in
Seward is seeking a qualified individual to teach in the Culinary
program. This instructor will deliver a minimum of four of the following
post-secondary level instruction to an adult,
multi-cultural audience of
varying ages and work experience: Basic Culinary Theory/Math/Practical
Skills, ServSafe, Nutrition for Culinary Professionals, Volume Food
Production, Ala Carte Breakfast Cookery, Ala Carte Dinner Cookery &
Dining, Purchasing & Inventory Management, Basic Culinary Baking Skills,
Management by Menu, Buffet Catering, International Cuisine, Supervision
in the Hospitality Industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of five years
of journey-level experience as chef/cook in large production kitchen or
restaurant.
Desired
Qualifications: Five years experience
and a minimum of associates degree in culinary arts or related field.
American Culinary Federation (ACF) Credential:
Preferred - Certified Executive Chef (CEC)
or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE)
Additional Qualifications:
As of August 2010, the Alaska Culinary Academy is scheduled to be housed in its
newly constructed, state-of-the art facility. To maintain the Alaska Culinary
Academy's reputation as an educational leader for the Alaska Hospitality
industry, this position requires an individual have established industry and/or
educational affiliations, as well as the desire to promote AVTEC's Culinary
program. The new facility will be equipped with the technology to deliver online
courses. An applicant who has experience with online course delivery is a plus.
Salary:
$58.5K - $67K dependant upon education and experience for 10-month instructional year.
