Culinary Instructor Position 

AVTEC in Seward is seeking a qualified individual to teach in the Culinary Program. This is a full time permanent position. This instructor works directly with two other instructors to deliver the advanced level courses as included in the Professional Cooking & Baking Program at the AVTEC Culinary Academy. Instructor will develop and deliver the classroom and practical application components of  Buffet Catering, Management by Menu, International Cuisines, Inventory and Purchasing, Ala Carte Cooking, and Supervision in Hospitality.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of four years of experience as an executive chef or equivalent level in a large production kitchen or restaurant.

Desired Qualifications

Prefer chefs that are graduates of professional culinary academies with a broad knowledge of classic techniques as well as the latest trends in culinary arts. American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chefs preferred. Must have excellent communication, cooking, and kitchen organization skills. Experience in teaching and curriculum desirable. Comfortable using computer.

American Culinary Federation (ACF) Credential

Preferred - Certified Executive Chef (CEC) or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE)

Additional Qualifications

As of August 2010, the Alaska Culinary Academy has a state-of-the art facility. To maintain the Alaska Culinary Academy's reputation as an educational leader for the Alaska Hospitality industry, this position requires an individual have established industry and/or educational affiliations, as well as the desire to promote AVTEC's Culinary program. The facility is equipped with the technology to deliver online courses. An applicant who has experience with online course delivery is a plus.


$49K - $65.5K dependant upon education and experience for 10-month instructional year.
